Brahmadev-Pancheshwar Access Road is the proposed road alignment for access to the Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project (PMP) site from Brahmadev (Bhimdatta Municipality, Nepal). The PMP is a bi-national hydropower project proposed to develop in Mahakali River bordering Nepal and India with the total estimated power generation of 6720 MW. This project has been under the process of development with the mutual interest of both government of Nepal and India. The proposed access road will facilitate in transporting require construction materials, tools and electro-mechanical equipment to various location of the project site such as main dam site, powerhouses and re-regulating dam etc. It will also contribute in developing the local areas by providing easy access by means of public and private vehicular mode of transportation.

The proposed access road starts from Brahmadev at Bhimdatta Municipality, Nepal and extends through various villages and rivers crossing such as Bhringi Gad River, Khalla village, Kauwanidanda Chadani River, Rangun River, Simalta Shirsha, Rupali Gad to Pancheshwar etc. Motorable road is available till Kalika Temple at Brahmadev from Mahendranagar Bus Park. The designed road alignment is about 58.90 km from Brahmadev to Rupali Gad section. The roadway is about 15m wide which includes 12m wide black topped carriageway, 1.5m shoulder at valley side and road side drain at hill side. The longitudinal limiting gradient is 6% and minimum horizontal radius of 25. The selected road alignment mostly passages through untrack new places along the Mahakali River bank. Only at some places of settlement areas, it passages through earthen track (motorable and foot trail). The section having track opened is generally earthen and the section from where the track has been intended to open is partly cultivated and partly forest & barren lands. About 6104065.52 m3 of earthwork in excavation (all), 424566.63 m3 of earthwork in filling, 129995.0 m3 of gabion structure, 71119.39 m3 of Rubble stone masonry for retaining structure, 123 nos. of pipe culvert. 44 nos. of slab culvert, 11 nos. of minor bridges and 13 nos. of major bridges have been estimated for this road section up to Rupali Gad.

The scopes and objectives of the consulting services will include, but not limited to following:

The Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project is a bi-national hydropower project proposed to develop in Mahakali River bordering Nepal and India with the total estimated power generation of 6720 MW. The main objectives of the consulting service are to conduct detailed engineering survey along the proposed road alignment and prepare detailed engineering design of the road section (Brahmadev-Pancheshwor). Consulting services also includes preparing design drawing, detailed cost estimate for the construction of designed road section, brief study of environmental issues, general soil type/ land used pattern along the corridor and preparation of detailed design report and superimposing of the designed corridor on cadastral/ land maps.

The detailed actual services provided by the consultant includes:

  1. Topographic Survey of 50m wide corridor with accuracy of 5m contour interval and detailed X-Sections @ every 100m and additional X-Section at every nalla crossing and other important locations with the help of electronic total station.
  2. Superimposing of the surveyed corridor of 50m width on cadastral/land maps and compilation of land statement.
  3. Detailed Design Engineering of Road, Cross drainage works (major and minor bridges), road protection works, Tunnels and River Protection works if any.
