The Bank is facilitating the strengthening of the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS) to become a center of excellence in terms of possessing a state-of-the-art spatial knowledge base on the major basins of the country and the modeling and stakeholder facilitation skills to help develop basin plans.
The objective of this Consultancy is to design, develop and implement a GIS-based spatial knowledge base for Nepal to facilitate rapid access to key data and information for improved understanding of Nepal’s river basins. This knowledge base will be the platform for a Water Resources Information System (WRIS) that will be owned by the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS) and housed in WECS’s Water Resources Information Center. Decision support systems as well as basin plans can build on such a knowledge base. The key tasks expected to be conducted under this assignment include:
- Data Scoping
- Design and Implement Knowledge Base Structure and Functions
- Populate Knowledge Base (GIS-based where possible)
- Develop and Deliver Knowledge Products
- Capacity-building Support
Overall Services provided by firm:
TMS provided national management and technical support to the project to accomplish its key tasks including Water Resources, GIS and IT services and supervision of support staffs.
